Detail of woman's embroidered fichu or scarf c. 1790 privately owned by Nancy L. Saputo, collector. The description provided by Nancy is as follows: "c. 1790 Fichu/Scarf (Probably English). Fine, sheer white muslin; edge embroidered with continuous band of purple flowers and shaded green leaves; edges scalloped and embroidered with green silk. Dimensions: 39" x 39" x 62" (cut on the bias)."
