Required Textbook: John Langan's College Writing Skills with Readings, 3rd. ed. (New York: McGraw-Hill, 1993).
Late Assignment Policy: Assignments can be turned in during class periods only. A one-week late assignment is docked one full letter grade or 10 out of 100 points; a two-week late assignment is docked two letter grades or 20 out of 100 points. Work not turned in two-weeks after the due date will receive a grade of 0.
Attendance Policy: If you miss 1 month of class (4 weeks or 4 classes), you will be dropped or fail the course.
Drop Policy: To avoid getting an F on your transcript for a class you have dropped, you need to notify registration and your teacher as soon as you decide to drop a class.
Cheating: If you use another person's ideas or words without saying that the ideas or words are not yours, you are cheating. You will receive an F for the assignment and can receive an F for the class if the cheating is wide spread and malicious.
Discrimination: The school forbids students to harass other students on the basis of "race, color, creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, marital status, disability, religious or political affiliation, age or sexual orientation" (Chaffey College Catalog 1994-95) 25). Note that the inclusion of "sexual orientation" means that no anti-homosexual or anti-heterosexual comments are permitted in class!
