Going Home

Red Moon tonight
Hanging up over the street lights
A round hole in a midnight purple sky.

Riding home without the radio
Listening to the motor's hum
As the speedometer flies to fifty.

Jumping out
I raise my eyes once more.
A shiver of fear flickers inside.

The hot air stiffles
A cool shower and
Smooth clean sheets
Await indoors.

Red Moon tonight.
