Effect of Gender and Agreeableness on Extraversion

Past research has shown a relationship between gender and extraversion. The current study focuses on the effects of gender and agreeableness on the degree of extraversion. The participants were 105 students (25 males and 80 females) from the University of California, Riverside who completed the Big Five Inventory (BFI). The students took an online survey during class hours. The results suggest that males with high agreeableness have the highest extraversion scores, while males with low agreeableness had the lowest extraversion scores. However, agreeableness did not have a relationship with extraversion for females. Instead, adult influence during childhood may affect the extraversion level of females more effectively than agreeableness.
