Lund, K. & Burgess, C. (1998). Using word context to predict part of speech proportions for grammatically ambiguous words. Paper presented at the 28th annual SCiP conference, Dallas.

In this presentation we demonstrate the ability of word context, as instantiated the HAL model, to supply grammatical class information. 941 unambiguous nouns and verbs were selected from Francis and Kucera and used to predict the dominant grammatical class of a set of ambiguous words. The technique used will then be shown to be applicable to the targeting of other specific information types within distributed context representations.
